Well there are supposed to be three amigos here. One unfortunately succumbed to a nasty hombre with a goose neck. No more of the wood left for a replacement.

I believe this to be old growth redwood. It was reclaimed from an old home and has very tight growth rings. Nice to work, but very soft, dings easy and makes sanding a challenge. The Vase is 5" tall with a diameter of 3". The Pebble has a diameter of 4" and is 1 1/2" tall. Finish is Antique Oil.

Beautiful Mark!! By chance, I have a piece of old growth redwood that was bought from Mike Smith that I have not cut into. Nice to know what to expect from it. Excellent!

Yessir Mark that is old growth RW. We grow it live on the stump at Big trees state park 4 miles up the hill. I have two redwood burls but am waiting until I can open all the windows to turn it. The sawdust is like talcum powder.

Those are beautiful! Too bad #3 went down to experience. It would have made an even better set.

Those look fantastic. You used the grain perfectly to accentuate the form. I love the clean lines with the pronounced grain. Kudos

i have some redwood burl pens that I make and they are pretty soft also.. I pretty much only finish them in lacquer to help strengthen the wood itself..

that is a nice piece of art you got there...very well done.
