I need to slow-ship a sturdy tool from California to Virginia. Any recommendations on which company to use? Cost is the issue. The jig I am shipping is not delicate.

The weight is about 25 lbs.

Brian,
I don't know the physical dimensions of the item you wish to ship so my answer may not apply. I have shipped motion picture cameras to several locations in the USA. They are fragile but if they are packaged correctly it is not a problem. The cameras weigh in the neighborhood of 30 to 40 pounds and the shipping containers were 24"X16"X16". I found that UPS had the best price. At the time I shipped the cameras the cost was around one dollar a pound. The Post Office was the most expensive due to size and weight.
If your item will fit in a Post Office large flat rate box you can ship up to 70 pounds for around $15.
Suggestion: use lots of bubble wrap and shipping peanuts.

I checked just a couple of places online and the USPS price of $29 is fine with me. It might be less if it ships in a flat rate box, but it is affordable anyway.
