"The woodworking world is all a-twitter over recent news that a Boston jury awarded $1.5 million in damages to a man who injured his hand on a tablesaw without flesh-detecting technology." This is from Fine Woodworking Magazine. This saw saved Clio Michigan Schools this year when a high school student met the spinning blade and barely a scratch resulted. Who will be the first to put this technology on band saws?

SS should be required at all high schools. Every one else should be on their own. IBTP

Thanks John. Although I dont always agree with the jury awards, it is interesting just the same.

Ok guys! let's keep this thread nice and civilized, previously SS threads tend to get emotionally charged and sometimes un-pleasantries are exchanged. End result, the thread ends up in the invisibility bucket.

So let's play nice, let everyone have their fair say and go on with their happy lives.

I teach HS carpentry and yes it should be mandatory in all high schools. Please post a link to the article, so I can send it to the powers that be and hopefully get a new tablesaw.
