I finally made out like a bandit the other day...

Now, I realize this will appeal to a select few woodworkers, but still...

Practically new (no sawdust on this thing at all) Shopsmith Mark V 510 w/ table extensions, AND Band saw. only missing the power coupler, chuck and Allen wrench. I couldn't believe how nice a shape this thing was in.

Looked it up online at the SS website. $3500.00 new.

Walked away with it for $400.00

:D

Sounds like you walked away with a real bargain. I believe you, in spite of the pic police.

OK! Here are the pics! Had to take it apart to move it, but here are the two important parts...

Can't wait to get it together and put that band saw to use. Went to academy once was really impressed with it's simplicity and versatility. Now to just get my jigsaw fixed!

Buy several power couplers. Nothing worse than stripping one out in the middle of a project...

I would agree. Mine has a coupler and a loose bracket that adapts it to the power head coupling. I used epoxy on it years ago to keep the two pieces together after it stripped out some, and it has never given me any more trouble.

That's interesting to know. I've actually owned an old 500 model (which I plan to sell) for several years and never had a problem with the power coupler. It runs great, but I just couldn't believe in what great shape this 510 was in. Plus a band saw, which I've coveted for a while now. :D Now, I realize Shopsmiths aren't for everyone, but I'm on happy camper right now... ;)
