I was digging through my shop drawers looking high and low for my forstner bit extension. Instead I stumbled across some clock fit-up's I bough years ago. I used to make clocks quite often. So, haveing the fit up's and some cherry and walnut cutoffs looking for a project I turned a couple of desk clocks. The larger is Cherry with a 3 7/8" fit up and the other is Walnut with a 2 3/8" fit up. Both have been hollowed to reduce the weight and are finished with DO. I used my big disc sander to grind a flat spot on the botttom so they would sit back at a bit of an angle..Bill...

Real simple & elegant! I'm going to try one of these.

I agree, those are really nice! Do the fittings screw in, so you can replace a battery?

and i was just going to ask how you kept them from rolling around one's desk . they look great; very original, bill.

The fit ups are pressure held into a specific openning size. Metal pressure clips or plastic depending on the maker. pop out the fit up to change battery or change the time..Bill..

Bill I must say those are beauties. I have a few of those fit-ups in my clock shop so guess I will have to give that a go.

Bill, Great job on the clocks, simple but really good looking, I like your idea on sanding a spot on the bottom to keep them righted. Time for me to pick up a few of those...
