Earlier in the fall, I caught my neighbors kid wacking away at an Ash treethat had died. It was on his property but fell onto mine. I helped him cut it and haul it out (my fireroad is the only way out unless you want a cliff to climb, kid has no sense)

I saw a Cherry tree that was on the other side of a creek and asked if he was going to get his share of it(some on his land, majority on mine) He was done working for the winter so I told him I would get it. Ofcourse the 4 feet + of snow that fell after that day has kept me away from it until today.

The big surprise was the spalting I found in the majority of it. The lower trnk was rotten 3 feet up but after that it was good solid wood to the top.

I saved the larger diameter piece in longer lengths. I could have easily gotten a 16 foot piece if I could have worked my tractor down in there

The spalting is seen better in person, but its there and so is the big cheesy smile on my face:D Now I did not cut any open to see how well it is inside due to it raining but it has been a good morning me thinks

I am setting up my wood lot just on the other side of my wood splitting area. I will keep the wood sorted by type and cover with tarps etc.

Am jealous. Nice stuff. There were a lot of fallen branches here in 'Joisy this weekend. I don't yet have a gaspowered chainsaw, so I couldn't avail myself as you did.

Nice supply. Don't know where you are located, but here in Delaware the bugs get into wood stored like that pretty quickly. Should be a lot of fun to work with.

Great gloat... That's the first time I've seen the new anchor seal... wow!!

Some of the stuff in that split pile would be fun as well.

I was hoping to save some of the cherry from that tree but its soft centered:(

Baxter, we live in the mountains of WV, there is no place without bugs. Inside, outside...doesnt matter:o Thankfully they have a firewood pile to chew on and thousands of acres of dead and dying trees to bother with.

That pile is double that size now. I spent most of the day working on a big Locust and another Oak.
