Bob put up a tutorial on youtube for these square bowls. I saw it and decided to try my hand. The first one I made was maple with a very small amount of curl in it. The second was cocobollo with the straight corners. After showing these to some people, the overwhelming response was they liked the maple form and could I do it in the cocobollo? Thus came the last with the drop corners. Thanks to Bob. Any critiques would be welcome.

Matt - they all look good to me but I kinda like the Cocobollo with the straight corners the best. Just seems to be an extension of the original curve and appeals more to me.

Nice looking wood!

I like all three but the drop corners sure catch my eye. I have had Bob's tutorial bookmarked butt have not had the guts to try it :D Great job Matt.

Matt

These are great. I too watched bob's video but for some reason mine didnt turn out as nice as yours! Now you are forcing me to give it another go.
thanks

Well done bowls. My vote is for the straight-winged Cocobolo as well - somehow the droop wings on this piece just don't do it for me.

They all look good, Matt. I just tell people I am too lazy to cut the corners off. :D

Take care

All look great but I agree with Steve, I like the cocobola with the straight corners.

Bob makes very informative videos. I used his tips/videos with his vacuum chuck on my NOVA DVR XP. I have about $40 in a vacuum chuck setup and it works great. Works great even on small bowls. I used it today to turn the tenon off a 3" bowl. Worked great.

That's a nice bowl. I might have to try my hand at one of those sometime in the near future.
