Sorry for my first post being a question. But anyways... story time!

I just purchased a powermatic 54A 6" jointer with the straight knives. Trying to get everything setup and noticed that when I mounted the fence assembly to the bed/base that the fence rests directly on the bed (outfeed side) in the center the bed length. Its not bent or anything, just a little protrusion in the middle of the fence.

My issue if I make angle adjustments on the fence or move the fence across the bed, the fence cold scrape across the bed and potential scrape it. Given what I paid for this hunk of cast iron, I don't want to do that.

Is this normal or is there some adjustment that I'm missing that ensures that fence doesn't rest there? I don't think I need to lower the outfeed table bed as its perfectly aligned with the blades.

Any help would be appreciated.

Place a penny under each end of the fence before you lock it down. Mine does the same thing. IIRC, it is addressed in the owners manual.
