There is a lot of carbide too makers on the web, Is there any of the tools makers you think will be around for long? I would like your suggestion on which tool maker to buy from.

Carson,
Welcome to the forum. Glad to have you participate. Many here have purchased the tools or the carbide inserts (to make their own tools) from a variety of sources. I have a couple of the Hunter inserts on home made tools, but have no helpful response to you questions. Others will follow here with some suggestions.

I can't say enough about the easy rougher tools. I have the ci2, ci3mini and ci4 mini, and absolutely love them. As a relatively new turner, they've been really helpful in getting me to know the feel of a sharp tool (not to mention not having to sharpen them):).
