I've installed the Laser Master 8.5 and the most recent printer driver for my Mercury. The signwarehouse version of Laser Master requires the USB security dongle whcih I have and it is installed and working. But when I go to the Installation Manager, it always activates the program in Demo mode and I cant send to the machine in demo. I cant seem to get beyond this so I decided to try something I have already. From Paint Shop Pro, all I get is the laser to etch a filled box and nothing else. It seems to ignore the vector, raster, layer information. I'm curious what I might be doing wrong.
Does signwarehouse ship these things with a funky firmware that limits their use with other programs by chance? Should I try an older driver? Should I simply be starting with a known program such as Adobe or Corel?
The original owner used serial input and I am using parallel. There is no config for parallel so I assume it is always active and it seems to be receiving my files but this is the output I get which is sized correctly.
Another note, when I tell the driver to only print vector (uncheck raster), the thing goes all the way to the right and starts working backwards on a single line and then stops. Very odd. I think it's not getting the data it needs, I dunno.
Realistically, I should be able to print from anything to the laser shouldnt I? Could I not open Word and do a 2x2 clipart and bring that to the laser? Or is the "printer driver" for the laser misleading in that it truly needs specific cutting information and not typical printer input?
