The High School Students have been at it again, and made me three carbide tool handles. I purchased the cutters from Woodcraft. Here are the three tools:

And a close up of the business end. The handles are aluminum covered with 1" plastic tubing from Lowe's.

I thought I would put them to the test, and made this oak box with walnut knob/finial. The box is 6" tall by 4" wide. I used the round cutter for hollowing, and it worked very well. Finish is HBO, beall buffed and ren wax.

Thanks for looking, and as always C&C welcomed.

They look good. Are the kids interested in making a little money? PM me if they would make them for sale... I might be interested depending on price.

That would be a great fund raiser for the kids to do. It would give them a chance to do more research on tool design, quality and composition vs production cost. :)

Nice work by the kids - and, by you as well!! Nice lidded box! The tools certainly did well with the oak.

Great looking tools and a great box. I've been considering one of the round carbide tools, so if you decide on a fund raiser I'd be interested.

Do you have a tutorial on how to make those fancy tools?
...How about a price point then?
Really nice tools, nice box!

I will discuss this with the career center director and see if it is something they would like to do. If it is a go we will see what the price point would be and I will let those who have expressed an interest.
