View Full Version : Churchill pen the second, Black Palm

I like this material, palm, but it sure is chippy and powdery. You can't see it in the photos, but the pen has a few places where there are thin cracks or what looks like wear where the palm thinned too much in sanding, and you can just see the brass tubes at some angles. They filled with CA and lacquer when I finished the pen, so it is smooth, but I'll probably chalk that up to experience and turn some replacements for it.

Looks pretty good to me Mike! I've heard how difficult black palm can be to turn but it sure looks cool when it's finished! Nice work!

It's a beauty! I agree the palm is a pain in the @$$, but it's worth the effort when it looks like that.

Nice job on a difficult material. I always have bad words to say about Palm (black or red) while I'm turning it, but I've always been happy with the finished product.

Nice pen. Very interesting too. I have an old fountain pen that I got at an auction in a box of stuff. Looks just like it. I wonder...

Great pen! I have tried black palm 3 times...3 disasters.
