Pen number 2 didn't quite turn out so well, or at all actually.

Lacewood.... I need to look it up, I don't know anything about it

I see these getting addictive.

First pen? Wow. Excellent for a 51st pen. Makes me think I should chuck up the two lacewood blanks I bought.

Nice first pen Dave. Pens are like potato chips, just can't do one and quite. If it is not too late, keep one of your first ones, you will have it to compare later on.

It's not too late, I gave that one to my wife. For as simple as they are I didn't think they would be so much fun, but as I have found out they do require some finessing or they go all over in little pieces.:D

first it is one pen, then the second pen.....several hundred later when someone orders something I have not made for myself, I usually make a spare....addictive? 12 steps are not near enough...

Nice pen!

When I first tried pens I was running 50/50, after 4 attempts I had 2 pens :p

I thought I was better till last week and I tried curly Maple cut at an angle. I was on my 3rd set of blanks before I finally got a pen out of it.

Lesson learned: On heavily figured wood, coat the ends in CA glue to help prevent chip out!:rolleyes:

Nice pen! keep up the good work.

btw.
Lace-wood is an Australian oak. The grain effect is the same medullary ray flecks seen in QS white and red oaks, they are just smaller and closer together. This is just what I was told to long ago to really remember i could be remembering wrong... but I know it's related to oak anyway.

You are finding the draw of the vortex. There is no known cure so enjoy the ride. Nice pen.
