OK, so we're in the market for a 20" planer in this price range and have a lot of Grizzly stuff, like what we have so far. Can't see too much difference between these units other than one is made in a factory w/ stricter standards and the other has a built-in mobile base. The peripheral hardware is a bit different. Cutterheads are a bit different too (I am comparing the spiral cutterhead versions). Is one model an older one that is being phased out? Is one cutterhead a better bet than the other? For $700 more, what would one get for that with the 1033X? Mr. Balolia? Have either of these units seemed to have shown a better record for your customer service or for negative feedback?

Thanks for your input, Creekers.

I have the 1033 and it had the straight head.
I changed out to the byrd head and like it.
You will need at least 5hp to make a good unit with the carbide cutters they take a little more hp.
I was stalling mine pretty regularly on the wide stuff so I put a 7.5hp I had in it and it works great.
