Had a few hours to spend so decided to dig out the malachite peices I got over the net a while back and ground them down. Just a bit softer (Moh scale) than turquoise. I found a waste bin piece of rosewood, somewhat cracked up and turned it into a 4 by 4 box. I filled most cracks and finished. First lesson: cracks need to be over filled and then refilled. Overall, came out relatively satisfying.

Norm, that rosewood sure has a deep color - very nice box. Good info on filling the cracks, too.

Norm,

Very nice box. You did a good job in filling in the voids. I'm sure the box will hold treasures for years to come.

You must have some different interpretation of "Relatively Satisfying" I'd be thrilled to make something like that.
