This is a maple box finished with antique oil and buffed. Size is 2 1/2" high x3 1/2" wide at widest point.
Finial is maple painted with India ink. Size is 3" high.

George, this is a very nice piece, and I particularly like the way the form flows into the finial. Just a very clean, petite and well done piece! The maple and black do very well together.

Really nice looking HF. I like the flow into the finial but would have liked to seen it shorter.

George, I think the height is just right on the finial. The ratio of the finial height to the base height appears to be about 1:1 counting the very bottom of the finial as part of the base. It appears to be better balanced then a certain JK space ship flying around the forum.:D The only thing I may have done different would have left the large detail in the middle of the finial as maple to match the base because it has the same or similar shape. It worked great for JK space ship.:)

Very nice! I like the finial size/proportion, and the detailing of the finial is very nice.
