Morning Everyone,

I just was given a W & H W7 Molder from a friend.
He's had it in his warehouse for about 20 years, and I
have been after him to sell it to me for that long.
I finally have a use for it, he owes me a million favors,
So the Molder is now mine!

This appears to be a fairly old model, I'm guessing
1960's or early 70's. I will call W & H to get a date.
I need to make some moldings and circular picture frames.
I have it on my workbench, and am starting to tear it down.
It needs new bearings, a good cleaning and refresh.

I can't find any good information on the web regarding updates to the machine.
I'm looking for someone, other than the manufacturer, who has a lot of
experience using one of these molders.
My rollers are dry rotted and I see they make a few different styles to
replace them, which ones to use?
The W & H site is pretty bad in the update information area.

Does anyone here know of a site that has lots of info regarding updates,
jigs, and what not?

Thanks
John

John, I have one from the 90's and one from the 50's that I bought for parts. I changed over to the soft rollers for more grip as I make 2 or 3 passes. W&H made 3 styles back in the 60's; manual feed, power out feed and power in and out. If yours is power out feed only or manual, you might want to look at changing over to variable speed feed that W&H sells, it will be an easy change over. You might have to drill and tap a hole or two to bolt on the drive assembly if it is not power in and out feed. Great machine!

If you call W&H you can talk with Jim in there and he is a wealth of knowledge. He can give you information with regards to in and out feed roller options. Depending on your work, and the profiles you run, you may want to run harder infeed and softer outfeed or vice versa.

They can ship you any parts needed and have always been helpful with our molder.

While I cant say for sure, I am pretty sure they make VS upgrades for all their molders as well as the elliptical jigs and so on. We mainly do straight runs so I have not done much research with regards to shop made vs. purchased.

Good luck, They are handy for sure,
Mark

It has a power in feed unit on it.
Thanks,
I will call Jim in the morning.
