View Full Version : How to disassemble PC 693 plunge base?

Folks - I managed to pull my PC plunge router off the bench, and when it hit the floor the base both bent (so that now when set upright the router rocks) and also broke. I may have damaged the plunging mechanism a bit, as it seems kinda jerky now, but otherwise it looks repairable - except I can't figure out how the base and columns come off. Can anyone assist here?

I am also considering whether it's worth repairing - the parts will go for about $50, and seem to not be readily available (the 2 parts places I found so far that list the base/column assembly say it will take 2 weeks to ship). A whole new plunge base is about $90. I guess it depends on the fiddle factor of the repair? Thoughts?

Of course, there's also no bad reason to buy a new tool, so if anyone wants to chime in with recommendations for a new plunge router, I'm all ears. Be nice to have one with dust collection....

Thanks -

Ken
