....does anyone have any idea where I might be able to purchase a 1/4" reducer collet sleeve for a half inch router? I have looked, not very extensively, but I have looked and seem to be having trouble actually finding one somewhere to order. I have one. I had two so I always had a back up, but one has been missing for a while and if I lose the one I currently have, I might be stopped cold from doing some work in the shop, so I would like to order another one or two for back up purposes. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a couple of Whiteside ones shouldn't be too hard to find. Try Amazon, Holbren, Woddpeckers etc.

Fred, for not a lot more money, you might can get a "fer-real" 1/4" collet for the router. You didn't say what kind of router you had, but here's links to a couple

I've used the reducer adapters, but they seem to bind/freeze more readily than a properly sized collet, plus I just don't trust them as much.

Thanks Tom, but I use both 1/4" and 1/2" shaft bits in both my table router and hand held and prefer the ease of simply adding the reducer when needed.
