OK I've been getting my lumber and bowl blanks from about 4 or 5 local suppliers... I want to know if there are any other I have missed.

currently I frequent:
* Clark's hardwoods in the heights
* Houston Hardwoods on 34th
* Woodcraft(both locations)
* Rockler (sometime but not often)
* Masons (shop-ed it bought nothing)

So are there any others I have missed? I'm looking for rough stock, or lightly skip planed... I like exotics but I work alot in domestics. Also cost is important, I like a good deal. Are there any local mills?

There is a mill up around Huntsville. I've not been there, but it is mentioned often here. S&G IIRC. But I'm probably off on the name. Hopefully others in the area will give you some more solid info and options. Jim.

Brian, Does Clark's in the Heights have a fair selection of bowl blanks? Are their prices fair? Thanks, Greg

Did you try Bison on Beltway 8 (north of I-10) for lumbar ? They may not carry bowl blanks though. Rockler and Woodcraft are too expensive (me think) !

They have a decent selection of blanks, they seem a tad bit high on them though.
As for their lumber it's top notch and they have a good selection of domestics and a great selection of exotics, so you can find that board you need... for this I'm willing to pay a little bit more a bf.(still cheaper than Woodcraft and Rockler) You can also have a chunk cut off a thick board for the bf price... make your own bowl blank as I see it.

Don't know how far you are willing to drive but Acadian Hardwood in Rose City (east side of Beaumont on I-10) has a good supply and if they don't have it they can probably get it. They also have a great supply of cabinet hardware.

It's M & G Sawmill. They usually have mesquite, red and white oak, cedar, peacn/hickory. They also carry turning blanks. Checkout their website.
