I am looking for a 10 inch rip blade that produces a completely flat bottom. I plan to use this where the end of the cut will show.

I have received several recommendations for the Freud LM72 blade.

This blade comes in the M version without the red coating or the R version with it. Is the red coating (LM72R) worth the additional $10 in price?

The red coating helps keep the blade clean, reduces friction if the wood contacts the blade body, reduces rust, and makes the blade easier to find on the rack.;) For a $10 premium, if I had a choice, I think I'd skip the coating, but the LM72"R" is more common and usually easier to find in the market place. Other comparable blades are the Amana RB1020, Infinity 010-024, CMT 201.024.10, and DeWalt/Delta 7642....all high quality FTG rippers.
