I have a rough sawn 12" wide board that I need at it's width. All I have is a 6" jointer. Is there a way to face my first side to start the milling process or do I need to glue up two 6"ers?

Isn't there a sled/jig you can build for a planer?

thanks

Plenty of older threads discussing sleds in great detail are available.

I usually just flatten one side with my #7 and send it through the planer, flip and take a hair off the other side.

Tons of different planer sleds, just do a google search, my favorite is:

But you can also search here for the hot glue method it has been mentioned in the last day or two. The woodwhisperer also shows it in his video "this jointers jumpin" think is is like #6 of his videos.

Yes, it's been discussed many times. Here is one thread.
