My new Grizzly G0586 has a problem on the outfeed table.

Using a straight edge and feeler gauge, I can fit a .003 & .004 under the straight edge on the outfeed table. In feed table is fine.

If I use this the way it is will I ever get decent results from my jointer operation?

I had to take this thing apart to get it into my basement and the crate is gone. I really don't want to take it apart and make another crate so I can return it.

I guess I could take it apart and have a machine shop re-mill the table.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Brian

Don't worry - that's fine. I don't know what their spec is, but for comparison, Delta's spec on the venerable DJ-20 is 0.008". Sawstop says their saw tops are flat within 0.010".

So don't worry about it - it shouldn't affect you in any way.

Feeler gauges have no place in a woodshop:)

I thought I had a problem with my new 490, but the problem was my new straightedge. Anyway, the 490 spec is 0.002 per foot (according to verbal message from tech support). If you have any questions give them a shout. I have been impressed with their tech support.
