Had some small pieces of rosewood left over after a couple of pen turnings.Figured I could make some refrigerator magnets.Drilled a 1 1/8 hole in bottom and chucked it up. Turned it and glued ceramic magnet in bottom and decoration on top was from AC Moore.143084

Ray, I kind of like these!! Since I haven't done anything small, how did you chuck these pieces?

I used a forstner bit and drilled down approx. 1/2 inch. Then chucked it it my super nova 2 chuck with the taller jaws. Now to fill in the gap between the bottom and the magnet I cut a short piece of dowel and glued it in place, then magnet on top.I got the basic idea from PSI. They have a kit where you buy their bottle stopper chuck and rare earth magnets.Drill a smaller hole ,chuck it and turn.I didn't want to buy another chuck yet so I tried it my way. The ceramic magnets are strong enough to hold it on the refrigerator.;)

Cool idea for scrap Ray. I just did a quick search on A. C. Moore web site but did not find the top inserts that you used. What does the store call them or have them listed under?

Roger the pieces on top are from:
Blue Moon Beads
Royal Boheme
Part # BM18313
Name on pkg is- RB CNTR MTL RND Flower AS
Barcode # 6643518313
I forgot to add there was a small ring on outside edge that had to be cut off.You just need pliers and a file.I found them in the jewelry making section of the store.I imagine it's meant to be a charm or part of a necklace. The 2nd time I went in to buy more they were out of stock. But they did have something a little different. The part # BM95939-PE-003.Hope that helps.
