Well here is the first of what I hope will be a set of 5. One for flour, sugar, coffee, tea and a sugar bowl for the table. This one measures 5" across and 4" high and will be the sugar bowl on the table. They will be all finished with Minwax Antique oil. This one has one coat of oil on it now. Enjoy.

Nice work, Bernie!! You should get all the lids laser engraved when you have them finished. It is pretty reasonable to have someone local do it. I had some jewelry boxes done a couple of Christmas back, and it was about $5 each for the names of our girls.

That looks good Bernie, and hopefully the Walnut is stable enough for you to have very little wood movement, good choice for that

Great looking canister. A set of them in different sizes will look great together. I also like the simple, clean looking knob.

Thanks everyone. I appreciat the kind words. They will be stair stepped starting at I am hoping from 8" tall X 7" in diameter and go down from there. It won't be difficult to reproduce the shape. The LOML said today to make a salt and pepper mill to match for a total set. Something more to think about.

Nice Job Bernie! Looks great. I like the finial on the lid. Easy to open that way and a nice contrast in color.

Nice. The form lends itself to many objects. Salt pepper grinders have been mentioned and Candlesticks would work too, but don't let the wife read this or you'll be expanding the set for sure!

Down here in Florida I would worry about the seal and humidity. Maybe an O-ring on the larger canisters?

That certainly is pretty. Are you going to make the other four different sizes?

Thank Bill and Pete. Nope Pete always a thinking. When I did a lot of traveling when I was still working my mind was always going on what I could make next.

Nice looking canister Bernie. The whole set will be a nice addition to any kitchen.
How long does the AO need to cure before using for sugar etc?

Thanks again. Rob I am guessing a week. Probably will be longer than that since I am still trying to acquire the walnut to finish the rest of the project.
