So, I got a new shipment of anodized from my supplier and noticed the new parts had a little difference appearance or sheen - hard to describe. Still anodized aluminum - just what I ordered. Did my standard Cermark/laser process and ........... well, you've got to love this business or it will drive you crazy. Well, got to run now and figure out how to mark the new material with a good, dark, consistent, repeatable mark - like I had with the last batch.

To the laser, Bat Man!

Randy,

i don't know if it makes sense for your particular product or not, but have you considered re-coloring with black pigments rather than Cermark? Gently laser off the clear anodizing, then drop the units into a bath of quality black dye (like from Caswell)... seal with a boiling bath and you have a nice black mark that's just as durable as the clear anodizing. No more Cermark, no more tweaking the laser every time an anodizing batch changes chemistry.
