I am building several exterior doors from white oak. For a finish, I am considering Waterlox marine finish. Has anyone had any experience with this product? Points I find attractive include tung oil base which means it can be brushed on (I don't spray) and it can be re-newed by simply applying another coat.

there have been a couple of threads here that i remember about waterlox's exterior varnish. search should turn them up.

i don't see why it wouldn't be as good as any other deck stain type exterior varnish, but as with any non-paint exposed to the sun, it'll be a short term deal, will need recoating every 3-5 years depending on the sun exposure.

Yes I have used it many times for white oak outdoors in HOUSTON, TX. Our sun is brutal, I recoat every other year or so. 3-4 years will probably work in NYC.

There are better Marine varnishes but at $40 per quart Waterlocx is very good the better ones are $60+ per quart. They are at boat supply houses or marinas.

Don't be tempted to buy the poly marine varnish for $20 quart, it wont last a year in Houston and it must be removed when it fails. Poly is highly susceptible to UV damage.
