View Full Version : Wormy Chestnut & Walnut Humidor

It seems the guys really like the wormy chestnut.... I had a friend request this humidor out of wormy chestnut and walnut.

This is the second humidor I've made for this customer and attempted to put subtle references to "two" in to the build.

I put a couple of Bird's Eye Maple inlays where the lid separates... the BEM was in fact some of the same wood from his first humidor. That, coupled with the two "v" grooves along the base and the two strips of walnut laminated in towards the bottom of the chestnut... Although, difficult to see.... I put a gold leaf border around the edge of the lid separation - both top & bottom... then I shellac'd over it with about 6 coats... hopefuly, it'll stay put.

I had to dig through a huge pile of wormy chestnut to find this piece... but, it was worth it....

Ed, another excellent build!! I like the chestnut, as well. It has a very rugged masculine look, and the walnut compliments it well.

Repeat customers!!!:D That is what you were wanting to happen - CONGRATS!!!

Excellent job as usual Ed. I also like the wormy teamed with the walnut. Glad to see you are staying busy as apparently the cigar smokers still have a dollar or two in their wallet and are letting go of it. A good sign indeed!

Well they do have money to burn...

Very nice humidor, I am one of the guys that loves wormy chestnut, it just has such character.
