This has been something I wanted to build for some time now. With all the kilns being built by the members here lit a fire under me! :-)

I followed these instructions to build the kiln.
http://www.woodturningonline.com/ass...roduction.html (http://www.woodturningonline.com/assets/turning_articles/Kiln/Introduction.html)

Some minor modifications.
1) I wanted to circulate the air so i created basically cold air return vents. One on the left side toward the front of the kiln and one on the right side in the back. This will cause quite a bit more air circulation. The fans are sucking the air out of the vent channels.

I also put the lights near the fans. The fans are sucking the cold/moist air from the vents and blowing that over the lights.

I am using two 100 watt bulbs and using a greenhouse thermostat.

Looking forward to drying all the bowls and wood for peppermills and other projects.

Wow Jim!

That is excellent! You really did a great job! I can't wait to see how the wood turns out.

very nice, make notes on wood types, times, temps, there is a big differance in results with different wood

also, hf usually can be turned green to finial thichness with small amount of wrapage

That is a really nice kiln. Keep us informed as to how well it works. I need to get one going.
