Having a small shop a combination machine is attractive.
Have any of you used the grizzly G0634 with spiral cuttterhead.
12 inch Jointer /Planer 5hp.

Do a search, there are several threads on it and its direct competition from Jet. The general consensus is that they are both solid machines given their inherent compromise.

I have had the G0634 for about 9 months. I use it exclusively for hardwoods. I am very happy with it and if I had to do it all over again I would still go with the Grizzly. By the way the change over from jointer to planer takes less than one minute.

In addition look for threads on the Hammer A3-31.
I have one, went from separate General machines to the Hammer, couldn't be happier.
For me, it wasn't a compromise, I went from an 8" jointer/14" planer to a 12" jointer/planer with quick change knives.
The bed extensions make the jointer larger than most single function jointers and the planer works great absolutely no snipe.
Couple that with a digital readout for planer bed elevation and they're great machines.
