Thanks for the sympathy gents...

I'm having a bit of scotch and the GF has already glued it back together so all will be well soon.

It's a punky, cracked, rotted, twisted piece of Apricot, and I like it, so maybe it is worth saving... and what have I got to lose...

Wish me luck.

Isn't that just the way it goes, the pretty ones are the ones that get messed up. Good luck with the redo, hope it turns out great.:D

OK... Bernie suggested I have a second bit of scotch... so I did... Donny suggested duct tape... and Chris is seeing sunsets... this has all inspired me to acquire an avatar :confused::confused: ... he can fix it!!!

I'm not exactly following the logic here ... but the piece will return to the lathe, even tho it may see nothing more the the "80 grit" gouge for safety reasons.

Thanks to this great forum for the inspiration and entertainment! :D:D:D

Gee Ranger Rick.....did you come down from you tower?

I'd use some epoxy and let it set over night.

Good luck with it! It's a pretty piece of wood and great form so far.

Didn't you see the back cover of the AAW Journal? The guy glued one back together with tinted epoxy, called it art, and I think I recall that he sent it to Japan for a show.
I would have guessed red bud for the wood till you said apricot. Red bud has that green tinge and almost always has that rotted shake in the pith.
Sorry for your "experience".
