I cut a small burl off a log I cored a set of bowls from a few months ago. This is how I used it. It is around 4 1/2" wide by 4" tall. The last bowl is a form I turned from a piece of maple from the same tree. This one is 7" tall.

Jack, those are very, very nice. Such beautiful wood, and I love the NE on the smaller form - great character to the wood. The form on the taller piece is fantastic!
I have saved these images in my "pic library" for future reference!

Very nice!
There's nothing like making a fine piece of art out of a demented old piece of wood... is there?

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. This little burl was no more than a bump on the side of a large log. It was worth using for sure. My wife likes natural edge bowls so I give her credit for my doing the natural edge HF like this. The second bowl is from the same tree. It seems a lot of the native maple trees in my area have the ambrosia stain if they are old tree's.
Thanks again,
Jack
