To all,

This forum is great. I just found it two days ago and WOW! I joined right away.

I've tinkered with wood all my life, but, just got more into it in the last year. I've only built a few things so far an Adorondack chair, garden bench and a Frank Lloyd Wright style lamp.

I have a wife and son, 40hr a week job, take classes and such so that I don't get to spend alot of quality time in the shop.

Is there a FAQ page with guidelines and help posting images and such?

Found the FAQ and here's some pics of the FLW Lamp I made

Glad to be here.

Thanks,
Bobby Hicks

Welcome to SMC.

You want to keep your pictures to a max of 600x450 so it will fix into the page(yours are at 1024x768). You may want to use PixResizer to change the size (do a search). It is free s/w and works great.

Regards, Joe

Welcome to the Creek. Pull up a log and dangle your feet for a while.

Nice work on the lamp. Your design? What are the shades made from?

Ted

Welcome to SMC, Bobby! :) Nope, it don't take too long to figure out that this is a great place to hang out, with a LOT of skilled, talented and friendly folks on board! :D I've been here for a while myself and even though I may briefly visit a couple other sites, this is *home* for me! :) BTW, excellent job on the lamp! I saw that in one of the mags and have been wanting to build one, but other "stuff" has taken priority. When I do get around to building it, don't be surprised if I lean on 'ya a bit for information! Anyhow, glad you found us! Come often, stay long and keep those pics coming!

No it's not my design, I'm not that good :D . Came from a Woodworker Journal about two years ago.

The shades are clear plastic sheet with rice paper applied with optically clear spray on adhesive. The mag. specified some high price material with this alternative.

Thanks,
Bobby Hicks

Sorry about the size, thanks for the guide-line. I'll limit them next time.

Welcome to the Creek, Bobby. As others have said it is a great place to learn a little, laugh a little and lie a little. Great bunch of folks. A few want pictures frequently and will chastise the mention of a new tool purchase or a new project that does not include a picture or 3. Just photograph some wood sitting on a tool once in a while and they'll be happy...
