View Full Version : Best lube for x-y vise?

I recently made a table for my mortiser and installed an x-y vise with the necessary modification. I'd like to lube the vise so it works a little easier, but I'm reluctant to use anything that will attract chips/dust (which obviously get generated in substantial quantities at a HCM) or which could get on the wood and affect the finish. What's the best option? Thanks,

Tony. You could try a product called "Neo-Lube". It's graphite suspended in alcohol. After you brush it on, the alcohol evaporates and just leaves the graphite behind.

You might give dri-cote a try.

Paste Wax works for me.
