Here is a pepper mill I made out of some walnut that was given to me last fall. A member of the woodturning club I belong to gave me a couple of logs and I saved this piece for the mill. It is an interesting piece of wood that even has a few worm holes. I used the Crush Grind mechanism.

I'm giving it to my wife for Valentines Day. I have made quite a few over the years but never kept one for us to use. Hope she likes it!

Nice style and good finish. What is the wood?

Nice job on this one, Greg! I notice the holes are in the sapwood. They are probably powder post beetle damage, and you rarely see them past the sapwood of walnut. Makes for some nice character in the right piece, and it worked here!

Greg,
Very nice, but now I'm in trouble. My wife saw what I was reading and wants to know what I made her. OOPS! I guess I better get started on making that dog house for myself.

Nice character in this one. What kind of finish? I'm keeping it short in case my wife decides to peek over my shoulder.

Roland - the finish is simply a few coats of Danish Oil then buffed. I wanted a matte finish.
