Ok, I guess I'll have to turn some bowls. This is the largest apricot tree I've seen and I get a few pieces of it. The bottom is about 30" in diameter. The tree guys were great, falling it in a 5' area between the house and fence. It's been raining for weeks and is still wet out, so I'm not too worried about major checking right away, but I still have to figure out how to get it to a place to cut it up. Beautiful color and no major holes or rot. Updates when I get some out of the mud.

That's a lot of bowls!! I have yet to turn any of the fruit trees, except for wild cherry. Most of what I have seen here really have some nice color and character - look forward to seeing some of this!

Jealous? Of course not, yae sure! That ought to keep you busy for a while, can't wait to see the fruits of your labor, no pun intended.

Wow, not only a thick trunk but tall. I live amongst apricot orchards but the trees have all been pruned short over the years so the fruit can be picked from the ground or at least a short ladder. Apricot is some of the nicest of the fruit woods to work with I think. I'm sure with your experience you know all about the cracking and how to care for the wood. Looking forward to seeing some of the results.

Nice the only fruit tree I have turned is peach I used a limb to make a finial for a christmas ornament an paired it with walnut. I wish I could get my hands on even a non fruit cherry blank for a bowl. :)

That must have been one monster of a tree when it was live! Never seen apricot as lumber. I'd love to see what you do with it...

I love apricots but never thought about the tree ever being that size! Could make some big and beautiful bowls. Good luck with it!

I am so jealous! A wood that I have never gotten. I would almost consider coming down to trade. Interested?
