LOML wanted another candle stick to augment the two I made earlier. It is made from cherry and is 14" high by 7" wide. Finished in oil, not buffed yet, she decided to use it while it finishes drying. I decided to play with future hollow form design with the central part, I hope to get a hollowing rig in the future.

This is a picture of the set of sticks. The tallest I made about 25 years ago with a shopsmith, and the middle size was made with the old jet 1236, and the newest with the jet 1642.

Thanks for looking,

Interesting progression in lathes, and correspondingly progression in turnings! Beautiful work on the cherry!

John,

I didn't own the shopsmith, used one my friend owned, turned for anniversary one year.

Pretty piece of wood. Those are major candle holders!

Yes, interesting how the lathes get bigger and the turnings get smaller.

Good work, I like the style of the older ones, simple and elegant.

Nice work Steve! That Cherry is going to age real nice and then really show off the form!

Gary,

My intention was to keep with the column design of the other candle sticks, (can't remember if they are doric or ionic) but the boss wanted something different, and her wish was my command.

Nice work. I like the shape and details. The entire trio is nice.

Steve, I like the new one too. Here's an idea... since you have the big lathe now, how about adding to the set with a bigger matching candle holder... maybe a 42" one.:D If she'll allow it in the house.:D
