I have a big job to complete with lots of sawn veneer in curly maple and crotch walnut. I have an old Stanley 112 scraper plane and I have a Low angle LN jack. I am undecided on the choice: toothing iron for the scraper or toothing iron for the LA jack??

I am going to be gluing the bandsawn veneer to a hardwood substrate. In the past I have used an old wooden toothing plane with an ancient iron. I would like to upgrade at this point but I am undedided on the scraper or the plane.

Additionally, I am wondering if it will be better to use the finer toothed iron or the broader tooth cut??

I would appreciate any inputs from others who have used newer blades to work this kind of project.
