That is a pretty piece of maple. I have had a few pieces like that. Wish all of mine were though! Interesting bowl design. Hope you show it finished!

Looks like you have turned your bowl away --- is that big rim staying on the top? Post more pictures when you get it off the lathe, so we can see what style you are after. Love that Maple.
