With the recent threads on photo posting I decided to try it myself. I really enjoy looking at photos that you all post, and would like to do this occassionally. This piece is a small ash vase, about 4" x 5" tall, made from a waste piece from a large ash bowl. It has a couple wiped on coats of tung oil.

The photo was taken in my kitchen with a piece of typing paper draped on an open laptop with a cheap fuji camera set on auto. The only lighting was the overhead flourescent lights.

Now for adding the photo and thanks for looking.

And the photo vortex traps another

Nice vase Mary, and now you start learning a whole 'nother discipline! Another recent (today) thread has some really good links to tutorials, so I will not duplicate them. Now we need pictures of that Ash bowl...

Mary - very nice vase! Love the form!

When it comes to photos - keep in mind that the limits are 800x600 pixels with a file size no larger than 107 kb for jpeg images. The software here will resize the photos to make them fit but you lose some control in how the final photo appears.

Questions are what we are here for - so ask away!

Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

Thanks for the encouragement, I am fortunate to have use of good equipment, even the use of turning tools. I did buy a set of B.Best tools because I didn't feel comfortable grinding on someone's tools. The LCSIXW six tool set at 79.95 is is a great deal and a quite capable.

The first picture I took had a shadow off to the right because of the overhead kitchen light so I took another with the light making the shadow fall directly behind the piece.

Very nice vase and I'm envious of your photo skills :p especially with all the trouble I was having.

Nice work on both counts!
