I was wondering where it is going, I see a lot of new saws out there that have thiner and thiner saw plate, espacialy the back saws. I was wondering, if other than being abble to say that you have the thiness saw plate out there, is there real benefits? I understand that a thiner saw plate have less resistance to push and that it is lither. But alos it is more prone to waving and kinking! So saw guru out there help me understand... Was it like that on vintage saws?

As technology advances, the saws can be made thinner. This as we know not only makes a thinner kerf, but can make a smoother cut.

As technology advances toward the ultimate goal, we will eventually reach the point where the saw and kerf are so thin and the cut so smooth that through this natural progression of saw science and technology, after sawing a piece we will actually end up with two pieces that together are longer or wider than the original piece.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled reality,
