Hey gang, does anybody know if this router is 'end of life' by the manufacturer? I was looking to grab one at Lowes the other day and saw there was no stock. I figured no big deal as they restock weekly. Today online I notice that 3 stores around me have none, 1 store only has a single unit left, and there are apparently none in the warehouse.

Amazon still shows stock.

Is this router going away?

CPO bosch has them for much cheaper than Lowe's normally.

That's where I got mine.

Sorry I didn't make that too clear. The 1617 non-variable speed new is 169 the 1617 variable speed recon is 169 or 229 new.

And if you are curious the MRC23EVSPK is the replacement for the 1617 I think: http://woodmagazine.coverleaf.com/woodmagazine/200912?pg=71#pg71

They do have a new version comming soon. One of the magazines did a small review on the new model. The new model is outragously expensive. Personally I would buy a milwaukee body grip. I have the bosch 1617 it is a nice unit, but I much prefer my milwaukee now.
