Starting to look at new cabinet saws and have noticed that some of the pictures appear to show no cover for the motor. Which ones do not have covers? Is it considered an option on cabinet saws?

Bruce, all the ones that I looked at in person had a cover. maybe they left it off in the pictures to show the motor

With the significance of modern dust collection, I can’t imagine them selling a cabinet saw without a motor cover.
What TS are you looking at?

I will most likely get a Delta or Jet since they seem to be the few that will put their parts lists and drawings on the web. If I can't get a part for my Northstate it will have to be sold off for parts. I need the arbor bracket (cast iron housing). I will check with the dealer tomorrow and have emailed the manufacturer but am not planning on paying over $200 for a part that should not have broke while removing the arbor. Are the Delta's made in the US? I am guessing that is why they cost more than the imports. What in the world is so special about the new Delta unisaw that makes it cost $3200 ?? I can get the previous model for $1495.

Check out these saws I found, the fence will be left off or sold later, I have an incra 52 on the way.

Bruce,

I had a steel city saw just like that one you have mentioned. I really liked it. I still miss the fence on that saw. The granite top is nice too, you just have to take care of it. Double check that grizzly saw, I think that might be a right tilt. I had nothing but good experiences with the SC saw I had.

I'm pretty sure that except for the Grizzly G1023S, most include the motor cover....and you used to be able to get it for $30 or $35 from Grizzly.

I just purchased a Delta for $2,600 delivered and placed in my shop.:D It's a 36" but I could of had a 52" for $200 more, if it would of fit. Both of the saws I looked were the newer models but last years production run. I was told that this years production run would have a price increase of $400. looks like you shopped where they were out of last years saws.:(

I believe that all new Grizzlies these days come with a motor cover.
