I have the same planer. Take the dust hood off. Look at the cutter head, on the right and left hand side there is a cast iron bracket that is attached to the chip breaker on the rear and pressure bar on the front. Check over this very carefully and look for cracks. If there are any, then the planer is junk. You can't get that part, or any other parts for that fact. If the brackets are OK, then check the gear drive in the left side. Check for back and forth play. If there is any play, then the gear needs to be replaced. That part can still be bought. That is a very good planer. I replaced about 14 bearing in mine, only because I had to completely take it apart to get it down the basement. After it was put back together and adj. it is a very smooth running and quite planer. Steve.

That planer sure looks very clean! Any idea of the date of manufacture? Just curious.
