Way off topic here...

I'm trying to share an Excel worksheet with a Excel for Mac user, and it's not working. I have protected parts of the sheet, and it seems to be causing a problem. I've emailed the sheet to other computers, and have no problems with any of the PCs that I try it on, Excel 2003, 2007, Windows XP and Vista.

I don't want to unprotect the whole sheet, and short of learning the art of Mac for this one situation, does anybody who knows something about such things have any ideas?

Does the Excel document use any visual basic scripting? The latest version of MS Office on the mac which is version 2008 doesn't support VB scripting.

Excel 2008 works fine on my machines. Does the Mac user have Numbers? They can try opening it there. Are you saving it as .xls or .xlsx? There are some differences, I believe. Compatibility has been an issue for .xlsx.

Have you tried saving it in an older format of Excel say Excel 97?

Eric, no VBS on this one. Hugh, I built the spreadsheet on 2003, save as xls., and we use it off the server on various 2007 machines all the time. Travis, I have not tried to save it with 97, but I htink I have that version around still, so it's possible to try it I think...

You don't need to have that version, just use the "Save As" button and select the earlier format from the file type section.

Thanks Scott. That sounds a lot easier then what I was going to try to do. I don't remember seeing that option on my 2003 computer, I do on the 2007 machines though.
