Anyone know where you can buy corian in the UK?

I might experiment.

Carl -
Most good kitchen places will have waste corian where they have cut out for sinks, hobs etc.
If they are nice enough that they will give you the waste, they will probably help order a new sheet when you are ready.

Thanks for the info.

I didnt actually know what corian was. So it is the material used for kitchen counter tops? Can it be bought as a sheet rather than bonded to mdf?

I will check out the kitchen suppliers down the road this afternoon and see if I can get a few offcuts.

If you just want to dip your toes in the water, there's a chap on eBay selling offcuts. Here's one:

If you want to work with Corian, you may want duPont's booklet "How to Work with Corian on the home workshop".

It is now on line at http://sites.google.com/site/coriartinc/

I hope this helps.

If I recall correctly you can purchase Corian from any Corian distributor. You will have to sign an agrement that you are not fabricating Corian for countertops as you have to be certified for that and DuPont is very particular about who they certify. If you produce signs, etc., you can purchase for that purpose.

There are a lot of other solid surface materials on the market. If you are getting remnants from a fabricator you may get some of these other materials in the mix, and they will react differently when lasered. A few of the other solid surfaces are Staron, Gibraltar, and Avonite. Avonite has some very nice colors, but is more brittle than the other surfacing materials.
