Last Sunday as I traveled to John C. Campbell Folk School, I stopped in Asheville NC and visited fellow Creeker Perry Holbrook and his wife Jo.
Perry took me on a tour of his woodworking, glass and metal shops. I was able to see his very fine work combining these three materials up close and personal. Perry describes himself as a mixed media artist. This is an understatement as his work is very creative and beautiful. I was particularly taken with some of his boxes and lamps.
Later he and Jo took me on tour of their home where many rooms are decorated with furniture, fixtures and cabinetry created by Perry. Everywhere you look in their lovely home your eyes are drawn to something beautiful.
All in all it was a great visit albeit too short as I wanted to pick Perry's brains a little longer. Unfortunately neither of us had the brains to document the visit with a picture before Jo had to leave. ( So Tyler and Chris, flog away!!)
