I am seeing new saws advertised that include 52 inch Biesemeyer fences but am unable to find a source to buy just the fence/guide kit.

I have an older North State 3hp 10 inch cast iron saw with a large fence (brand unknown) that is just getting to be a pain to maintain.

Anyone know where to get the 52 inch or have other suggestions for a really good fence?

The Biese Commercial fence (http://www.amazon.com/Delta-BC50-Handed-Biesemeyer-Commercial/dp/B000NW44XE/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1265381980&sr=1-5) is great, but is also usually among the most expensive. The Shop Fox Classic (http://www.amazon.com/Shop-Fox-G9220-Classic-Fence/dp/B0000DCZWZ/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1265381980&sr=1-7), HTC (http://www.allprotools.com/HTC-HTC-850-Multi-Fence-System-with-50-rails-p-17673.html?utm_medium=shoppingengine&utm_source=googlebase&cvsfa=1650&cvsfe=2&cvsfhu=4854432d4854432d383530), Jet Exacta II (http://www.southern-tool.com/store/jet_xacta_fence.html), PM Accufence, Steel City Deluxe fence are all good copies of essentially the same design. The Vega fence (http://www.amazon.com/Vega-PRO-50-Table-System/dp/B000022622/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1265381947&sr=8-3-catcorr) is also very good.

here in Charlotte. They are a woodworking machinery dealer that carries
tablesaws, fences and etc. They have moved from their old location in Charlotte near the football stadium to.?? I don't know the new address but are listed in the phone book. They are also the dealer for Northstate
saws...I have one of them and like it pretty well.My saw has a older style
jetlock type fence on it, maybe the same type as yours....Hope all this helps you find what you need.....

Thanks for the help, I had to stay out of the tool stores or I might leave with a new saw when I only need a new fence. I ordered the Incra 52 inch fence from Tool King. Going to see about replacing the belts on my saw now and clean it up some.

The Incra fence is amazing, you'll love it.

I bought mine several years ago from Amazon.com. They currently show the 50" commercial for $211.35 with free shipping, a better price than I paid then. The commercial is a lot sturdier than the regular. http://www.amazon.com/Delta-78-150-50-Inch-Commerical-Biesemeyer/dp/B0007SXGZG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1265425951&sr=1-1

For after market accuracy you can't beat the Incra 50" fence. I loved mine mounted on my Craftsman contractor saw, but have now sold. I currently have the Grizzly G691 with their Beise clone fence. It is very good, but not as accurate as the Incra.

This link is for the rails only, the fence is not included.

Given, the Incra fence is very accurate! But I detest the idea of devoting the whole right extension wing to that Rube Goldberg center guide of the Incra. It just doesn't make sense. This area is needed for every other chore that takes place in a small shop.

A Biesemeyer fence (or it's clones) can be lifted off the saw in 2 seconds, providing a clear table. Biesemeyer's 1/64" accuracy (even finer if you interpolate) is very sufficient for real woodworking!

I may take longer than two seconds but the Incra is certainly removable, takes maybe a minute, which is more than offset by all the time you save setting the fence and not having to interpolate. The Incra is not for everyone but you have to take into consideration that most Incra fences are on table saws that a Bies or clone came off of to make room for it.

I smiled at your Rube Goldberg reference since to my mind the Incra is actually elegant, if you think about it from a mechanical point of view the best support for a fence is exactly where the Incra is, the rest of the fence styles have to fight physics.
