See pics down a few post , I made them larger.

Heres a dresser/ av unit I just finished for myself. The top is a slab of mahogany that I got at an estate sale. It measured 21x96x2 flat. I thought it might of been khaya but maybe now thinking it was Honduras. The rest of mahogany is khaya. The sides I used a curly maple sheet I had that was in the mix of regular sheets.

The front draws are Sugar Maple Curly. I had these two s4s planks saved for years. The top draws are from one sequential plank and the bottom from the other one.
Unit is about 20 deep by 84 long by 36 or so tall. It probaly weighs close to 300lbs. I have the top removable. Without draws 2 guys are panting carrying it.

The bottom an sides appear to float off of carcass.

If I were to build over again, I would made the stretchers that run front to back overhang front of unit slightly. I would of also made the stretchers lower so you could see them better. If it were a big room they would be more visible.
The Tv is being hung on the wall on Saturday.

How do I make these pics bigger like the guitar project here. These pics are at 100kb and max is 107. I cant make them bigger but there frikin tiny. You can barley see any type of details in my pics.
There large pics from a dslr camera. I dont know if that makes a difference cause the quality and sharpness is so strong the pics are smaller and yet at max size for what little size pics we can upload here.

If you have something like PaitShop Pro, you can do a save as, select jpeg, and modify the options. You should be able to get decent, larger pictures and still stay ~100K in size.

Thanks, I was able to figure it out. Some pics on here. You dont have to click on to make it bigger either. Thats nice.

Hi Craig,

The reason mine are larger is that they are hosted by another site (Flickr, in this case) and linked to this post using the image "insert image" button above. Yours are downloaded to the Sawmill Creek site.

Craig, you did a superior job on this!! Very nice style, and the maple is gorgeous. The "floating" design element really adds to the piece. Nice work!! Great finish, too, BTW.

I resize my pics in Photoshop Elements to 10 x 7.5 at 72ppi. Seems to come out most of the time within the limit, and they show well. I like uploading to SMC as they will always be there. If they are hosted off site, and a change is made in that arrangement, the pics are gone.

There are literally hundreds of posts on SMC where that has happened, and the posts are pretty useless without the pics.

Craig!! That's so similar to what I have in mind for our master bedroom to match the purple heart and tiger maple night stands I made awhile back it's scary!!! Bravo! Great design and execution.

Craig, that top is a beaut! It must have been fun to surface, and by "fun" I mean "a chore". :D

Nice work!

Yeah it came alive with lacquer. It was 21 inches and straight and flat so I ripped 1 inch off and through it through my 20 inch planer. Took very little sanding. Went to 220 on it.

Outstanding job. What kind of handles/knobs are you going to use for it?
