Wow, looks like Uncle Steve really did make room for all the boys and girls! 'Glad everyone had a good time. These are wonderful events and I hope that more of them in different parts of the country take root. Good times and good fellowship.

Thanks to Steve for hosting. I can certainly say that everyone had a great time.

Thanks to Sophie for donating the Forrest WWII that I won! I never win anything, but I won big this time!

Thanks to Dennis Peacock for sharpening my chisels, and showing me how to use a Tormek. When I told my wife I needed one, she said I couldn't go to any more BBQ's.

I saw lots of familiar faces, and met many new friends.

Thanks again to all who worked hard to put on another successful BBQ!

This was my first picnic - it was more than expected!!! Thoughly enjoyed myself. Met many terrific people - learned some new tricks - discovered that a lathe really is a neat tool that can be fun - and had some great food!!!

A special thanks to Dennis Peacock for teaching me sharpening on the Tormek -

And more special thanks to Phil Joines who brought out his Jet mini lathe and showed me that I really can learn a bit of turning - that was a ton of fun.

Can't thank Steve Jenkins enough for hosting the event - thanks a bunch Steve!!

And thanks to David Smith for his "firewood" which I'm sure will be made into some very nice boxes.:D

Looking forward to the next picnic!!!

Thanks for the reminder, Betsy!

I forgot to thank Dave Smith for the nice piece of apple wood that I will use to make some Shaker knobs.

Thanks Dave!!!

As the old saying goes " A good time was had by all". Pictures don't lie and I saw a lot of happy faces. Good to see some fellow Creekers and put faces with names. I wish I had been there...

"Nice bowls Ace......where did you buy these":D

Ace is a hoot. Everywhere he was there was laughter and smiles :)

It was a great day. Good food, old friends, new friends, demos and woodworking. Sue and I had a great time. Thanks to Steve and Marge for hosting the event. We certainly will try to make another one in the future.

Terry says I can't come to Texas again until I come to his picnic.

Yep. Ol Ace is a HOOT. Always has some kind of long arm story going.
I've met him twice now at Terry's shindig. Super nice feller.:D

Looks like everyone's having a good time. Are them Arkie boys Dennis and Terry staying under control?

Steve:)

It was a lazy, rainy day in Houston. I didn't even make an attempt to go to the picnic. Next year! It looked like a blast.

These boys are never ones to be corralled for too long ;) Dennis had a great demo on using a Tormek properly and Terry was Terry.

Most excellent pics. Waymond. Thanks.
What a wonderful day it was.The time just seemed to fly by. Weather cooperated and couldn't have been better. There were some doubts on Fri. evening but they were unfounded.
As you can see everyone had a good time. Sam gave an extremely educational demo, class, miniseminar, on wood filling and french polishing.
Larry hancock kept his lathe spinning and between him,Dave Smith and Phil Joines, anyone interested in turning got a good hands on education.
I want to thank everyone who came for making it such a great event. It's something I look forward to every year.
I know there will be more pics and stories to come.

I had a great time at the BBQ...

Good pics Waymon! Thanks goes to Steve Jenkins for being a great host and to Steve King for an unexpected early delivery of a Jet DC system! :D

It was great to meet more of the SMC/Woodnet crew as well as see a few folks that were at Terry's BBQ in September. Terry, Ace & Steve retain the most entertaining conversations award. Dennis actually got time away from the Tormek this time around...heck they even let him eat!!

Steve does very high quality work and his shop is great! You gotta love that Altendorf....so Waymon...where are the pics of the PC aluminum base circ saw going through the sawblade??? (Long story, you'll have to wait for Dennis, Waymon or Steve to give full details).

Saw my first Legacy Mill...pretty nice tool. Would have stayed longer, but I had a car club meeting that evening. Sorry I didn't make it back by today Steve, the schedule was too busy this morning...I'll get my chair someday next week.

To any who wanted to come and couldn't I'm sorry you missed it. We all had a good time.

Great pics Waymon!!!

Just got back home. Dennis has 3 more hours of driving to go!!!

Thanks to Steve for doing a SUPER job hosting. Food was great!! Got to meet a bunch of new friends as well as seeing my old friends again. It was pretty cool to just hang out with everyone for a change instead of being the host!! I also got some awsome 4/4 QS white oak and some super nice 8/4 white oak as well.. Thanks to Tod Raines for "loaning" me his crank straps so I could secure the wood haul and thanks To Dave Tinsley for the wood!!! I have something very special in mind for this wood!! ;)

I couldn't resist running a piece of it through the planer to see what it was going to look like. Nice!!!

I had a great time too, and was bummed I had to bolt out early around 3:30pm on Saturday. Only took 4.5 hours to get home!!!

It was good meeting everyone up there. Sawmill Creekers were the minority, as Woodcentral, I think, had the most folks there.

The food was good and plentiful. Steve did a great job hosting the event. I am certainly glad I went and look forward to attending other BBQs in the future.

I took the digital camera, even with an extra set of batteries, but there were so many cameras floating around, I really didn't feel the need to get it out - I was having too much fun making new friends.

I would also recommend anyone traveling in or through the Dallas area to head a little north to McKinney to go to Curly Woods. Even if you don't buy anything, its a great experience to browse through awesome woods. Mike runs a clean and well organized shop and was a pleasure to do business with. My wife informed me that the flitch-matched walnut I purchased was going to "make our bed"! (stay tuned... but don't hold your breath!)

Well...just got home and I "tard"!!! ;)

Really enjoyed the BBQ and thanks to Steve Jenkins for hosting and teaching about the "5 sided cut" as well as letting my rub and stroke his Altendorf Sliding Tablesaw. What a SAW that IS!!!! :D

Thanks Betsy and Martin for allowing me to show you what little I know about sharpening!! Always glad to help another ww'er grow in their knowledge about things they need to know to make their ww'ing better and easier.

A special thanks to Dino for sending me the SmartTable by Eurekazone. Looks like something I'll have to review.!!!  :D

Waymon - Where's the pic where Steve and I were "truing up his skillsaw"?  :D

Great pics Waymon.

Steve, thanks for being such a good host (as always). If the BBQ gets much bigger, you may have to move to Texas Stadium next year. The food was wonderful. Thanks to all who prepared the meat and supplied the side dishes. It was great to see some familar faces and meet some new friends.

I had a great time and would like to thank Steve for opening up his shop to everyone. I was sorry Todd and I had to head back mid-afternoon. Enjoyed the turning demos from Larry Hancock as well, and browing Mike Mastins Curly Woods in the morning.

If Todd ever gets out of line, just ask for stories on him :) Tee hee hee
